Bill Swartz, Sports With Swartz, an award winning radio sports and news reporter is the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce’s speaker at the March 12, 2014 lunch at Tapatio Mexican Grill 11:00 a.m. – 12: 30 p.m. RSVP to attend the Newcastle Chamber lunch. 

Want to know what to look for as the Mariner season kicks-off? What is Pete Carroll like, one-on -one? And what about those Sounders? Swartz will cover it all during his lunchtime presentation. Swartz’s voice impressions and comedic timing make him a humorous and popular speaker.

A long-time resident of Newcastle and a familiar voice at KOMO radio for 18 years and KIRO radio for ten years, Swartz is now with CBS radio sports station in Seattle, am1090The Fan. Swartz and Steve Sandmeyer co-host the only local talk show on The Fan, weekdays from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Regional Edward R. Murrow award winner

Swartz was named Associated Sports Reporter of the Year in the state of Washington twice and won the 2012 Regional Edward R. Murrow award for his story “Born to Run.” He has also hosted the pre-game interview with many of the Seahawks head coaches, including Pete Carroll since he joined the Seattle Seahawks in 2010.

Though he is a Washington State University graduate, Swartz worked many years for the Huskies, reporting from their football sidelines and doing play-by-play for the women’s basketball team. He has been a part of all the major sports events from college basketball’s Final Four, to the Super Bowl, MLB playoffs, PGA Championship, and NBA Finals. His biggest thrill was play-by-play for the World Champion Kirkland Little League baseball team back in 1982 which helped launch his sports reporting career.
